Four Past Midnight

A Book with 4 of Stephen King's longer short stories.

See also "The Langoliers", "Secret Window, Secret Garden", "The Library Policeman", and "The Sun Dog"

From a Buick 8

Curtis Wilcox, a Pennsylvania State Police officer for over 20 years is hit by a truck. His son, Ned helps out at the Troop barracks to help him grieve. The members of the Troop have a strange old Buick in a shed, and they sit him down and tell him the story of how it appeared at the Jenny Station and the driver simply disappeared.

The Car was almost alive, healing damage done to it, it never dirtied, but its strangest secret was that it was a doorway to a strange and alien world. Strange creatures came to our world from within the Buick and animals and people from our world were transported away, never to be seen again. But as time passes, the Buick seems to be losing its powers.

Geralds Game

An unusual story about a woman's fight within herself. Far from help in Notch Bay, at the north end of Kashwakamak Lake, she is alone, or though she thinks.

The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon

Trisha McFarland's parents are newly divorced, and in an effort to keep the family together, her mother and brother and herself take a walk in the woods, on a portion of the Appalachian Trail near their home (near the Maine/New Hampshire/Canada border). At one point, they come to a fork in the road, and Trisha, needing to pee, goes down one path to take care of business. The mother and brother go down the other path. When she is through, she decides to cut through the woods rather than retrace her steps, after all who could get lost here?.

Golden Years

An explosion in one of the most secret laboratories of the USA causes the old guard Harlan Williams to be contaminated with totally unknown chemicals. Now he changes and becomes younger instead of older.

Graveyard Shift

Link to Book

A bunch of disgusting characters become rat-chow and only the audience wins in the end. An adequate giant-rat movie: take that as you will. It takes the King short story as far as it can go, and that's about all it manages to do.

The Green Mile

A 6 part miniseries, that was re-released as a single book. The links to the side are for the single book, as the individual chapters are no longer available.

Hearts In Atlantis

Another "Short Story" collection of King's work, but this time all the stories follow in a series from 1960 to 1999, although each stands alone. They all have a common underlying theme - Vietnam, and they follow the same series of people throughout their life, from children, through vietnam to adulthood.

Insomnia

You'll lose a lot of sleep. Ralph does. At first he finds it hard to drop off. Then he starts waking up earlier. And earlier. But that isn't when he starts seeing things. Colors, shapes, strange auras around his friends. Not to mention the bald doctors who always turn up at the scene of a death. The evil looking one clutching a rusty scalpel. All that comes later.

It

A story of Pennywise the clown, who is ageless evil, trying to kill children in the town of Derry, and the fight back from a group that call themselves the "Losers". Starting in the fall of 1957, the fight between the Losers and Pennywise is thought to Kill him, but he is back in 1985, and really upset with the losers!

L.T's Theory Of Pets

A rather unusual tale told by L.T. DeWitt about the breakup of his marriage and the disappearance of his wife in rather unusual circumstances.

The Langoliers

A group of people take a red eye flight from L.A. to Boston into an most unfriendly sky on this doomed 767. Only 10 Passengers awake on American Pride Flight 29 - the rest have disappeared about 1/2 hour into the flight, leaving behind items of a personal nature. Luckily an off duty pilot was aboard, but landing in an empty world in Bangor, makes them wish they hadn't. The Langoliers are waiting for them you see....

The Lawnmower Man

Link to Book

The credit was removed following a lawsuit on Kings part. There is no connection to the book other than the title. How King sold the rights to his so-so short story about a murderous satyr who mows lawns to the producers, and how they turned it into this unrelated tribute to cyberspace/virtual reality, is probably a story in itself worthy of a movie. Another evil is lurking there as well - The truth.

The Library Policeman

Junction City, Iowa may seem like an unlikely place for evil to be hiding. For small businessman Sam Peebles, who thinks he may be loosing his mind, another evil is lurking there as well - The truth.

Liseys Story

Link to Book

Two years after the death of her writer husband, Lisey Landon begins to clean out his old writings, but discovers something strange - clues left behing for no one but her. She gets threatened by a strange man who wants all Scott Landons unpublished papers, and this starts her strange journey into the past, and also a strange parallel world Scott called Boo'ya Moon.

Helped by her sister, she traps the evil John Dooley (who was born in Shooters Knob, Tennessee) in Boo'ya Moon, where he is devoured by a creature that inhabits the strange land.

The Long Walk

One of the Bachman books about a walk where the winner gets the ultimate prize - anything they want for life, and the losers get punished with death!

Maximum Overdrive

Link to Book

This movie was the first to be directed by Stephen King. For his work he was paid $70,000, and found out the hard way that directing movies was HARD work.
