Carrie CoverDescription: The story of a teenage girl with telekinetic powers. Carrie White was an outcast, who is pushed beyond human limits when she is cruelly taunted in front of her Prom, and she unleashed her frightening power upon the small New England town of Chamberlain in 1979.

Leaving the school and town looking like a warzone, Carrie turns her power on the only person she truly loves and hates - her fanatically religious mother, with devastating results.

This is the earliest of King's published novels, and the one that rocketed him to stardom. Looking back on his early works now, it can be plainly seen that King has matured and developed as a writer in many ways, but his early work is still an enjoyment to read, and has a certain style that exists in King's modern work still. Receiving a huge $2,500 advance for this book, King thought he was lucky, but only a short while later the paperback rights were sold for a whopping $400,000, and King was to get Half!
