Description
Squad D is an 11 page, 2,500 word story written for Harlen Ellison's Dangerous Visions anthology, but Ellison felt that the story was not quite ready to be published in the current form. King did not feel that was the case.Josh Bortman is the only member of Squad D to be alive. He was in hospital when the other 9 of his squad died while they crossed a booby trapped bridge left by the Vietcong on April 8, 1974 .
A photo showed the 9 dead members (Josh was missing from the photo) together, but Dale Clewson, father of Billy (who died on the fateful bridge crossing), tried to ring Josh after he noticed that Josh was indeed in the picture. Dale was too late, as Josh had committed suicide, and had finally taken his place along with the rest of Squad D - in death and in the picture.

Description
This 15 Page manuscript was based on the characters created by Dorothy Sayers, but was never completed. It was written while King had a brief stay in England in 1977.Lord Peter Wimsey and Bunter are on their way to a party at Sir Patrick's house in the country, but when they cross a wooden bridge, they note that the supports have been cut almost all the way through. When they return to their car and start off again, they discover that there are no brakes on their car, and they crash. Alas that is where King stops the story.
